Neuropathic pain refers to pain that originates from pathology of the nervous system.

Symptoms include: Spontaneous pain (pain that comes without stimulation): Shooting, burning, stabbing, or electric shock-like pain; tingling, numbness, or a “pins and needles” feeling.
